Unique Places to Shop in Ginza & Shibuya

UNIQLO
📍1F to 12F, Ginza Komatsu East Wing, 6-9-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

The UNIQLO store in Ginza is the largest UNIQLO in the world and consists of 12 floors. UNIQLO is a popular store in Japan that sells clothing, including essentials at decent prices. It is a great place to stop by if you forgot to pack an item of clothing or realize that you need something additional based on the weather (like a puffer jacket if it's too cold). However, this location is unique because it offers more than just clothing and walking through the levels is an experience in itself. This store has a coffee shop, customizable embroidery services, and a flower stall. You will likely find this store throughout Japan but definitely check this location out to satisfy all your essential clothing needs and get a sense of Japanese fashion.
Chuo-Dori Street
📍Ginza, Cho-ku, Tokyo, 104-0061

Chuo-Dori Street is a long strip in Ginza that is full of designer and specialty stores. Ginza is known for its luxury shopping, and this is definitely the heart of the city. Even if you are not into designer brands, it is fun to window shop and to experience the hype in this area. We traveled to Ginza around Christmas time, so all of the stores had beautiful and fun decorations set up. In addition, the Seiko clock tower is located on this street, which is an iconic spot that has been featured in many movies and television shows. Check out this area for some luxury shopping and chic vibes.
Abercrombie & Fitch
📍6-9-10 Ginza Chuo-Ku Tokyo 104-0061
This location is unique in that it has 11 floors you can explore and there is risqué artwork painted on the walls. This artwork features men playing a wide variety of sports and even getting ready in locker rooms-- with nothing on. Of course, everything is covered, but it is quite suggestive. My sister and I got a kick out of all the pictures, and this spot was definitely a highlight for unique stores we visited. Of course there is still the fashionable clothing, and I purchased a cute skater dress that I probably would not have been able to find at an Abercrombie in America. I suggest checking out this store if you are looking for a different way to experience Abercrombie & Fitch!
Cha Ginza
📍5-5-6 Ginza, Chuo Ward, Tokyo Met. 104-0061

Cha means "tea" in Japanese, and this store sells matcha and tea products in a contemporary setting. There is a bar area where you can taste the different teas available before purchasing and can see how a proper cup of matcha is prepared. My sister purchased some tea bags filled with green tea while I purchased loose matcha powder and a traditional bamboo whisk. The whisk is known as a "chasen", and it allows you to mix the loose matcha to make a smooth and frothy drink. Note that I did not see a specific menu to taste the tea but rather the tastings were available if you were interested in making a purchase of their tea. The store attendants were extremely knowledgeable, and here is where I grabbed some excellent matcha as a souvenir from my trip.
Ginza 6
📍6-10-1, Ginza, Chuo 104-0061 Tokyo Prefecture
Ginza 6 is a swanky mall that houses numerous luxury designer stores. There are various statues and artwork sprinkled throughout the premises with the main character being an orange space cat. Along with shopping, this spot has a fun rooftop garden that you can peruse to get away from the bustling city. We visited the garden at night when there were less people, and we were able to get a great view of Ginza. There are also premium restaurants and a food hall within the building, along with one of my favorite stores featured below: Tsutaya Books.
Tsutaya Books
📍6-10-1 6F Ginza, Chuo Ward, Tokyo Met. 104-0061

Tsutaya Books in Ginza is an experience where you can buy not only books, but also art, magazines, and stationary. I honestly loved this store and could spend hours in here looking at everything they had. They had extensive collections from around the world and a wide variety of displayed art. The ambience was also inviting, and there is a cafe here as well. This store is located on the 6th floor of the Ginza 6 mall. This was one of my favorite stores in Tokyo and definitely a location to add to your list of places to shop.
Salon de Royal
📍Japan, 〒104-0061 Tokyo, Chuo City, Ginza, 4 Chome−8−14
My husband requested only one thing to bring back from Japan, and that was chocolate. While looking for the best chocolate in Ginza, this store popped up on my internet search, and we were highly impressed. There is a large assortment of deluxe chocolate available, along with my favorite: chocolate covered nuts. My sister and I bought a variety of packaged delicacies, which included chocolate covered macadamias, pecans, and almonds. Some even had unique flavoring such as coffee, sea salt, or matcha. If you are shopping for others or even yourself, I recommend visiting this store for some delicious souvenirs.
Ginza Loft
📍2 Chome-4-6 Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0061, Japan
The Loft is a huge store that sells products ranging from plants to sake and kitchenware to stationary. The store has 5 levels, and each floor sells something different. This is a great place for souvenirs or gifts (even for yourself), and I really enjoyed exploring everything there was to offer. The first floor has food products from around the world and the top floor had a large stationary selection that included journals, paper, stamps, and stickers. I bought a bunch of unique stickers here as well as some journals for my friends. There is also a floor with beauty, and I bought some fancy hair claws for myself since they seemed all the rage among the women in Tokyo. If you are looking for variety then check this store out.
TES| The Endless Summer
📍4 Chome-31-3 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0001, Japan

TES is hands down my favorite store in Japan because I love their merchandise. I own two French bulldogs myself, and this store centers around the dog breed. They have clothing, bags, and accessories that all have fun Frenchie artwork and references to California. This store is located in Shibuya, and the associates working there were extremely nice and so happy we came in. They are always bringing out new items, so I like to follow them on Instagram to see what is up and coming. Even though I wanted to buy everything, the pricing is more expensive, so I would keep this in mind. However, I think it is totally worth it, and the quality is super high. If you have a thing for Frenchies or are just looking for some unique clothing in Japan, then visit TES!
